Take our virtual guided tour of Horcajo de la Sierra and Aoslos
Horcajo has a wide range of rural paths that lead to the adjacent villages. As a farming settlement, it is crossed over by countless sheep runs and paths of different sizes whose origin was middle-age sheep seasonal migrations to southern pastures, such as the Cañada real segoviana. These tracks will also allow you to practice your favourite countryside sport, since they can be followed walking, cycling, on horseback, etc. Any path or direction will take you on a wonderful journey in which to live an experience close to nature, in an environment of a high ecological and rural value. In any case, let us suggest the following walks:
Starting off from Aoslos, we head for Horcajo following a pleasant course amongst ash and oak groves and stone-enclosed fields. Reaching Horcajo, a truly delightful scene welcomes us, with the view of the village situated on top of a hill surrounded by splendid walnut trees, poplar groves, vegetable gardens and other vegetation that render Horcajo the aspect of a rural medieval town. At this point, it is possible to go through the village, although it is not necessary, since following the Valley Brook (Arroyo del valle) upstream, and taking the Cebollera La Nueva peak as reference, we will directly reach our aim.

We set off from Horcajo towards Madarcos, taking the first turn left to the dehesa boyal. Once inside it, we take a track on the left untill we encounter an ash-tree grove, where we will see a fork. Taking the right branch, we will reach the top of the Ronreondo peak, magnificent viewpoint from which to contemplate the surroundings. We continue our ascent to the Monte Hueco, beautiful place in the dehesa boyal where we find a drinking trough, large holly trees and many an old oak tree of exceptional height and perimeter.
We can make our way back following the same tracks untill we arrive at the ash-tree grove, taking the right turn, and leaving aside the the drinking trough, descending along the cerrillo till we reach the dehesa's hurdle. Without leaving the pathway, we arrive at valdelafuente, where we cross the Herra stream, and follow our way back to Horcajo by the Peñaparda track, amongst ash, oak, and walnut trees.
This walk begins in Horcajo, where we take the road to Aoslos, leaving it right after the second large curve, taking our left. We descend the hill on which Horcajo lies to the arroyo del Valle stream, and follow it, amongst abandoned vegetable gardens, untill it meets with the Madarquillos river. We now follow the Madarquillos upstream, on by its left bank, reaching the Alberca recreation-grounds, specially equipped with tables, seats, fountain, toilets, barbecues, and playground. We can now start on our way back from the stone fountain situated on the highest point of the recreation-ground, taking the old road to France, in its 60's route. When we find a narrow street amongst walled fields, we can start the descent of the Arroyo del Valle's slope to the bridge that crosses Aoslo's road, and from there, amongst riverside groves, poplar and ash trees, ascend the hill to Horcajo.
